ALS Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

ALS or as may be commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease is a debilitating neurologic disease of unknown cause. Upper and lower motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord are destroyed with ALS. This leads to is progressive weakness, muscle wasting, spasticity which may be of rapid onset. ALS may result in difficulty speaking, breathing, and swallowing. ALS has no known cure. Many investigators are looking at using The regenerative properties of cell therapy to ameliorate the effect of ALS on the nervous system is being evaluated by many researchers.
